September 27, 2024 Update: Amenta Emma Presentation

On September 27, Amenta Emma provided a Zoom look into the space reconfigurations that will take place with the Commons Refresh Project. You can find the video of the presentation on CATIE, under Video Gallery section, “Refresh 9.27.2024.”

Although the Amenta Emma’s presentation includes furnishings—chairs, tables, lighting—these are only an idea of what could be. Choices of furnishings have not yet been made. The purpose of the September 27 Zoom was to show the creation/changes in spaces, which also include wall and ceiling finishes and flooring. The architects have put up displays of proposed color schemes, wall finishes, and flooring in the areas affected by Commons Refresh.

Now attention turns to the Interior Design Committee, made up of:

Jean Eccleston Mary Lou Albert Margo Berger Hildegarde Gray Jane Hart Ellen Ottstadt Hank Schacht Uriel Schlair Jackie Wilke

They will be working with the Interior Designer at Amenta Emma to study and make decisions on style and color as well as furnishings such as chairs and tables.

So, what next?

While the Interior Design Committee contemplates the furnishing, the Construction Document Phase continues on for approximately 3 months. At that point, the process turns towards Bidding and Value Engineering, which will take about 2 months. Finally, in the first quarter of 2025, the Construction Phase will begin. The aim is to take 18-20 months, with every effort made to create as little disturbance as possible.

Jean will be holding a series of small group meetings over the next few weeks to answer questions about the Refresh project.  Look for information on how to sign up soon.

Separate meetings will be held to discuss dining.

You can find a printout of all the slides from the Amenta Emma presentation in the Library in the Refresh Project section.

Those slides are also included below. You can find a video of the presentation on CATIE, under Video Gallery. It is entitled Commons Refresh 9.27.2024.
